1. Abstract

I really hate to admit this, but my husband has Salvadore Dali framed prints hanging in our upstairs hallway. They are HUGE, bigger than movie posters, and, he.loves.them. Highly influenced by a form of abstract art called cubism, Dali painted the Last Supper and the Crucifixion in surreal ways. I really hate these depictions, but, like Craig said in his blog yesterday, “Love doesn’t sweat the small stuff.” So there they hang and they are my abstract picture for the hunt. At least I got him to hang them on the second floor of our house!

2. Round

I made this scrapbook page of my pups walking in the woods this fall. It was round! How fortuitous!

3. Fire

My dear brother-in-law, Ralph, is getting up there. We had much fire at his birthday party. Check it out! The restaurant where we were celebrating had the fire extinguisher ready!

I went on snazzyspace.com and made this into a flaming picture just for fun! Here is the result!

4. Seeing Faces in Strange Places

I have to say that this category had me stumped. What did it mean faces in strange places? I thought, “Well, let me put that phrase in google and see what comes up.” I did and I saw all kinds of pictures of common, everyday things that looked like a human face. Then I knew what to do. Everywhere I go someone says to me, “Your car looks like it is smiling.” I reply, “Yes, everyone notices her. She has a nice smile.” I don’t know why I didn’t think of my car until last evening, but I didn’t. So here she is, smiling her best because I told her she was going to be on my blog for everyone to see. She inspires me.

5. Stars

Today is my younger sister’s birthday. I bought her a candle with a star topper on it so the wax will burn down evenly. I got that for her because I love mine so well. There is nothing like the fragrances of fall: pumpkin, cinnamon, caramel, and coffee coming forth from a soy candle (except, of course, real baking). I have vanilla and cinnamon in my bedroom now. The toppers are riddled with stars so that when they are burning, the fire from the candle glows through the star-shaped holes. It is beautiful! A star that is not quite so evident in this picture, however, is my friend, Maggie. Maggie was a staunch Catholic. The pictures here between the candles are from her funeral card. Whenever I look at them, I think of her and the great love she had for my younger daughter, Abby. Even though they were separated in age by 60 years, I think their minds connected in a special way–both intellectuals who saw and felt things very deeply, they could “converse” without having to talk. Abby still has a special place in her heart where Maggie memories live.
