Scripture and a Snapshot #24 – Revelation 22:5

At my youngest sister’s husband’s funeral I sang the hymn “No Night There”. When I read this part of Revelation or hear the hymn, I always think of David and his endless joy. Always smiling, he brought humor and levity wherever he went. He was made for a place where there would never be any night. I dedicate this Scripture and Snapshot to David.

In the land of fadeless day,
Lies “the city foursquare,”
It shall never pass away,
And there is “no night there.”

Refrain

God shall “wipe away all tears”
There’s no death, no pain, nor fears;
And they count not time by years,
For there is “no night there.”

All the gates of pearl are made,
In “the city foursquare,”
All the streets with gold are laid,
And there is “no night there.”

Refrain

All the gates shall never close,
To “the city foursquare,”
There life’s crystal river flows,
And there is “no night there.”

Refrain

There they need no sunshine bright,
In “that city foursquare,”
For the Lamb is all the light,
And there is “no night there.”

    • Oh, Cristal,

What a wonderful desire–to leave sweet memories. “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Ps. 37:4 It looks like you have this one covered.

    • Dear Susan,

That day the singing was not great. I had a difficult time not crying. He was a beloved brother-in-law. Nonetheless, it was heartfelt and my send-off to David as he passed from us into the arms of Jesus.

into the Lamb…yes, deep breath and…peace

  1. What a beautiful, peaceful verse for today! I love what you shared about your brother-in-law, David…”his endless joy”. What an uplifting description to have as part of one’s legacy! Your post is balm…thank you, Dawn.

    • I’m sure David will be right at the head of the line when those he knows from earth get to heaven. He was always so glad to see everybody. He was one of those rare individuals that had no enemies.
