I have to say that doing the Scavenger Hunt was very special for me this week because the prompts were given by Ida P. Krause. She has been doing the Scavenger Hunt for a long time, but just recently she helped her grand-daughter, Coleen, set up her own Scavenger Hunt and link it to Ashley Sisk’s page. This makes my heart soar to see how this grandmother works with her grand-daughter and how they enjoy the hunt together and share pieces of their lives with us as they share their pictures. So, Ida and Coleen, this post is dedicated to the two of you. This is what I did with your prompts. You inspire!

We’re just beginning to get the rain from Hurricane Sandy. I loved how the water pooled on my back deck in the pattern of the grain of the wood. How beautiful!
machine
Ah, the machines of childhood that plowed through the sand in the sandboxes of summer and carried driveway stones to their construction sites at the end of the yard and now piled high under Mamie’s picnic table or piled high in the outdoor chairs covered gently with the leaves donated by the silver maple who lives in our yard.
signs or logos
I just snapped this one about a half hour ago. I had to take about 6 shots before I realized I needed to be on night exposure and to take the flash component off. I also had to use my photo shop to get the exposure right. I really like how this turned out. The logo is recycling, but I like the sparkle on the raindrops on the deck from the light streaming out the door of my house. Ah, this is so fun!
sparkle
I have a quilted Thanksgiving runner that goes down the middle of my dining table. My daughter-in-law made it for me. I love it. She used thread that sparkles to make the quilting simply elegant. I took a close-up of a section of it so you could see how it shines. Thank you, Kelly!
Well, Dear Ones, thanks for dropping by. You will note that I did not have a picture for rocks or stones. I simply ran out of time and it is raining so I am not going to venture out again. However, I will leave you with this picture from the archives under my name below. Jesus is my Rock.
Dawn
Such a beautiful set, love the sparkly runner!
That sparkly runner came out so nicely that I almost didn’t get it, Tamar. Kelly made it for me, but when it was done she wanted to keep it for herself. Her husband told her she couldn’t keep it that it was for me. I smile everytime I put it on my table.
This is such a great set! I hope that Sandy doesn’t cause too many problems!
Thanks for stopping by my rainy set.
Wow, nice set of photos! I really like your recycle one as well, and the patterns. Have a great week.
Thanks for coming out in the rain, MG. It was good to have you here.
Dawn thank you so much for doing the hunt in Coleen’s and my Honor. We are truly blessed by this gesture.
You did a fantastic job with the prompts too. I love your Patterns shot, so pretty.
Machine is really cute – There is a house here in town that has a stack of these dump trucks that I always think look so cute. The joys of childhood are precious.
Great job for the Sign shot too.
Sparkle is also really lovely, I bet that looks fabulous on your table and so special because it was made with love by your daughter-in-law.
Rock/Stone – The best truth there is!
You are always encouraging, but this week was extra special because they were your prompts. What fun!
Hello sweet friend . . .
I too, love the way the rain mirrored the pattern of the wood grain . . . so interesting. The runner with the sparkly threads is beautiful and reminded me of that really old song . . . “Darling, I am growing old, silver threads among the gold” . . . it was in one of my music books when I took piano lessons as a child. Those Tonka trucks are almost camouflaged by the fallen leaves. Lots of leaves and raindrops in your shots this week, but ’tis the season.
Yes, tis the season, my favorite except for Christmas, and I’m glad that comes with snow here. Ahhhh!
Love the machines! Memories come with that. 🙂
Generations of memories come with those machines, Laura. So true!
I like hearing your stories and seeing the photos you chose for the hunt. I really love the texture of the rainy pattern.
You are so sweet, Barb. Thanks for leaving a comment. It brightened my Perfect Storm Sandy day!
memories of our toy tucks out for the grandkiddies this summer… all put away and snow covering all the leaves donated by our large cottonwood…
I wonder if our two feet of snow is any result of Hurricane Sandy? Your photo of the wood grains is lovely!
And your stone… the true Solid one … so glad we stand together safe and secure!
Blessings dear friend
would love to stop by for a cup of tea… hmmmm
do you have Skype ?
🙂
Susan,
I don’t have Skype, but I think I could. I have a camera within my laptop. I have never explored the possibility. Perhaps you could clue me in. Tea’s on!
Standing on the Rock and ready for the storm!
