Jesus is God in all His fullness! Colossians 2:9 says that “In Christ dwells all the fullness of the deity in bodily form.” When we grasp this, we can also realize what this means for us. John 1:16-17 says that “we have all received from His fullness one gracious gift after another.” He is full and we are not. Because of sin, we are empty. God cannot coexist with sin, but through grace God, through Christ willingly dying on the cross, paid the price to cancel our sin. When we accept His sacrifice for our sin, we become empty vessels because our sin, which filled us, is cancelled. Through the simple law of diffusion, God’s grace begins to fill us until all that we have and all that we are come from Him. His wondrous grace (the fullness of the deity) flows into us. The Father has the fatted calf killed, He wraps the royal robe around us and places the family’s signant ring on the finger of His wayward children. We become full to overflowing because His grace flows spontaneously into the emptiness of our lives. The Prodigal Father says,
…we must celebrate and rejoice, because your brother was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found. Luke 15:32
Diffusion is a spontaneous movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Think of grace as those particles moving from God, the Generator of Grace, into our lives, like perfume diffusing from a concentrated spot into the air, eventually filling a room. The miracle is that when we struggle, stumble, fall and fail He can fill us more because we are emptier (we have a higher diffusion gradient). James 4: 6 says, “God gives grace to the humble.”
Tomorrow I want to post about what it mean to grow in grace. Please come back. Your comments are always the best part of any post I post.
