About Me

DH and me

Hello! I am happy you dropped by today. I began this blog in October 2010 with a post about my dogs, thus the dschondog name (a combination of my maiden name and the word dog). Together they say beautiful dog. I am a married 61-year-old nurse who does telephone triage, a mother of 4, and grand-mother of 5. Everyone has left the nest. I now have 3 dogs. The blog was to be about dogs. It didn’t turn out as I expected. Two months went by and I did not post another thing, but I did begin reading Ann Voskamp’s blog A Holy Experience. She had just released her first book 1000 Gifts and was challenging everyone to give the new year a name.  I went back to my blog and posted my first entry for 2011. The post was entitled The Year of Now. Since then, I have tried to post something almost daily. I post a thank list every Monday and a spiritual lesson I’m learning later in the week. Being in community with hundreds (perhaps thousands) of others who read Ann Voskamp’s blog, I am encouraged every time I turn on my computer. I meet a few people here daily. It’s funny how this cyberspace situation is a replica of my normal way of being in real time. I have a few close friends with whom I connect deeply, a few others who are kind and people-oriented so they visit now and then and there are drive-bys driven here by a link or search engine for a look-see. It’s all been great fun, but it’s also serious. It is March 10, 2013 as I update this.  I named this year, Emmanuel, God with us, because He is, with us. The support I receive with like-minded individuals who read here and whom I read is priceless. I invite you into the conversation. You’ll be blessed!

I am,

Dawn

  1. Hi Dawn,

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment – and for your encouraging words. I hope it was clear that I wrote those words as much for me as for anyone else that might be reading.

I’m thankful that God used those words He’d already used to realign me and my thinking.

May God richly bless… by the way, Max is a real cutie!

  2. amazing how Ann’s book has impacted your life ~ I’ve read it twice and it has opened my eyes to be more aware of those things (graces) HE gives each day! Thanks for sharing.

    • Dear Karen,

Ann’s book revolutionized my life. I am intentional about my spiritual life and commit to taking in the Word and living it as I yield to Him. Thanks for stopping by and sharing with me what Ann’s book has done for you, as well. Together we will change the world!

      Blessings,
      Dawn
